Greetings from Melbourne. Great to see you appearing in one of the STC news letter. I just want to make little correction to your report. W/C Noel Fernando was not the ADC to ACM Mendis. I was his first ADC when he took over office as the Commander of the R.Cy.A.F on the 1 Jan 1971. W/C Noel at that time was Staff Officer Operations 3 at Headquarters. When all my students from STC joined along with you, Donald, Ajit, Raj Kumar, GY, Manakualasuriya and prior to that Mohan Gooneratne and subsequently Laksen, I was still the ADC. It was a great pleasure to have worked closely with ACM Mendis and to date I am in touch with him. For the past 50 years every 1st of Jan I personally call him and wish and also for his birthday. This year when I called him he told me that he was going to the SLAF Ratmalana for a Facilitation ceremony at 4 pm that day.I was very happy for him to see that the Air Force had recognised his work. He is a great person and a thorough Officer and a gentleman.
